CMN’s Tim Vasko to Speak at Ottawa Health Conference on March 8

Tim Vasko, Chief strategy Officer at Convergent Media Network (CMN), will speak this Wednesday, March 8 at the 2006 Government & Health Technologies Conference and Expo in Ottawa. The topic of Vasko's presentation will be Health Made in Canada: How the Canadian EHR can Deliver the Goods for the Global EHR.

Vasko is a noted expert in e-health and the development of the global Electronic Health Record (EHR). His presentation will demonstrate that the EHR is much more than a Canadian health issue, and that Canada is poised to lead the world by developing a Canadian EHR with potential for global adaptation.

"The Electronic Health Record is a global transition event," says Vasko. "Every major world government has issued a mandate for establishing an EHR, and it won't be contained within individual nations or institutions. The Canadian EHR has the potential to be far reaching in its influence and scope – well beyond Health Canada, and well beyond any single institution or technology."

The Canadian health care industry is worth $105 billion each year. Statistics Canada estimates between $2 billion and $3 billion is spent annually on information technology for health care.

The Government Technologies Conference and Expo is a forum for presenting new technological solutions for public sector health administration.
